Alternative Housing

When it comes to home improvement, there are a number of factors that come into play when constructing your dream home. It can be hard work, but I think we can all agree that it’s worth it. After all, home is where the heart is, so you’re not really home until your heart is satisfied with your living space. That being said, it can be hard to nail down exactly what perfect looks like in regards to your home. However, sometimes all it takes it seeing some examples of what others have done with their homes to get the ball rolling. Here are some ideas for you.

First and foremost, one interesting idea for your dream home is to live on a boat. House boats, or is it boat houses? are an interesting alternative land locked living. For starters, house boats play into the minimalist lifestyle of the tiny house movement (more on that later). Moreover, who doesn’t love the idea of waking up at sea, or close enough, every morning. The waves gently lulling you to sleep is like nature’s lullaby. Furthermore, you can always just detach from the dock of the marina and head out to sea at any given moment, whenever the mood strikes. Just don’t forget your Sperry Top Sider boat shoes!

Another interesting house alternative, alluded to above, is the tiny house. The tiny house movement is one born from necessity. Unlike house boats, tiny houses are not only smaller and more minimalistic than the standard variety, they’re also also much less expensive. While they lack space, creative use of that space more than makes up for the deficit, so there’s no real downside if managed correctly. Like House boats, tiny houses are often mobile. They’re often on wheels and attachable to your vehicle like a trailer, and that’s if they’re not, in and of themselves, a vehicle, such as a retired schoolbus.
